MIXED FRUIT BOX

A wonderful way to experience a range of our freshly picked Central Otago fruit. As the ripening season progresses, the types and varieties of fruit included in the mixed box increases. A great way to sample various fruits that are eating the best at time of dispatch.

THE TASTIER, HEALTHIER GIFT

As well as buying for yourself, consider giving fruit as a gift or as a deliciously tasty way of saying thank you to a friend, relative or work colleague. The online purchase form makes it so easy to do this.

USEFUL TO KNOW

FRUITS, VARIETIES, DIFFERENT RIPENING TIMES

Never bitten into a Webb’s Fruit Central Otago apricot, apple, nectarine, pear, peach or plum, then you’ve yet to eat freshly picked fruit as it should smell, taste and feel in your mouth.

Visiting the region used to be one of the only ways to enjoy freshly picked Central Otago fruit. Even then, you had to get your timing right as different fruit types and their varieties ripen at different times between January and March. Now, wherever you are in New Zealand, you can enjoy the taste and health benefits of fruit freshly picked on Webb’s Fruit Central Otago orchard.

DELIVERY INFORMATION

Dispatch days are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Orders need to be placed by 1pm the day before dispatch, to ensure the fruit will leave Webb's Fruit orchard the following day.

Freight costs are not inexpensive but these are more than offset by Webb’s Fruit freshly picked premium quality and by not having ‘middle man’ costs added to the price of fruit as it is in your local supermarket … fruit that could have spent weeks or longer in a chiller.

A reputable courier company is used for all our deliveries - NZ Couriers. All North Island fruit is air freighted to ensure fruit turns up in excellent condition.

Usual timeframes for delivery after dispatch are: - OVERNIGHT for a standard delivery (North or South Island) - With an extra day for Rural Delivery.

For PROMPT SERVICE IN RURAL AREAS we highly recommend delivery to a friend/relative or a NZ Couriers agent in your local township.

We use a non-signature required courier service. This means the courier will leave your box in a safe place if you are not home when the delivery is made. Any special instructions for the courier can be placed in the comments section during checkout and these will be placed on the address label.

If you do not receive your order within 2 days after the fruit has been dispatched, please contact us.

WHY WE ONLY DISPATCH MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

The reason for this is quality. The risk of your travel box getting delayed or misplaced is minimal, but it is a risk nevertheless. Should that happen Simon and Trudi Webb can sort out the problem before the fruit is delayed by a weekend, comprising quality.

Dispatch days are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Orders need to be placed by 1pm the day before dispatch, to ensure the fruit will leave Webb's Fruit orchard the following day.

TRAVEL BOXES

Robustly made in corrugated cardboard to our specifications, Webb’s Fruit Travel Boxes are either single or double stacked with fruit placed by hand into moulded plastic trays called plix. These are designed to offer the best possible protection and to further ensure that when you buy Webb’s Fruit there is ‘Quality In Every Bite’.

RIPENING AND STORAGE

A ripening and storage guide is included in every Travel Box.

  • Remove bubble wrap but keep the fruit in the box if possible.
  • Cover the box with a towel or blanket and leave in a cool to warm place until desired ripeness is reached. Make sure you check the fruit regularly!
  • OR to get a few pieces of fruit ripe at once, put the fruit in a paper bag and refrigerate remaining fruit until needed.
  • REFRIGERATE FRUIT ONCE RIPENED!
  • Fruit best eaten at room temperature.

ONLINE STORE SHOPPER ASSISTANCE

Even if you’ve never shopped online before there’s really nothing to it.

STEP ONE: MIXED OR SINGLE FRUIT TYPE?
Mixed fruit boxes are popular, particularly later in the season when more types of fruit are available. But equally, many of Webb’s Fruit online customers prefer purchasing just the one fruit type. It’s your choice.

STEP TWO: IF SINGLE FRUIT TYPE, WHAT TO CHOOSE.
Click here to visit ‘Fruit We Grow’ for descriptions of the various types and varieties. Click on the shop link to start the buying process.

STEP THREE: DECIDE ON YOUR BUYING OPTIONS.
The three buying options are explained above and also on each fruit page.

STEP FOUR: WHAT WEIGHT/QUANTITY?
Webb’s Fruit customers living alone or as a couple find a 3 to 5kg box ample. Families tend to opt for bigger boxes with anything up to 90 fruits. Go to ‘Useful To Know’ for details on weights, quantities and freight costs.
